| It may not sound very romantic, but you have arrived at the City of the Dead. | |||
Sights to See |
To the north and south of the Citadel lie thousands of tombs and
mausoleums of Egyptians that date back to the Mameluk era. The
Mameluks built elaborate tomb complexes with mosques and madrasas from
the 12th to 16th century. Don't be mistaken by its name. Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians make their homes in and between these tombs and crypts. Grave markers serve as door posts and tombs as clothes lines. Things in the city are not as friendly as they usually are since the recent pestilence that has fallen on Cairo. Watch yourself, because dark forces are at work here. |

Local Fauna |
While you are in the city, you may encounter some bats and rats that inhabit the tombs and tunnels. Don't worry about the rats, because they'll scurry away from you. | ||
City Guards |
The city is now under control of mercenary snipers who have set up automatic machine guns. Move slowly and carefully. | ||
Souvenirs
|
There aren't any artifacts of note to be found here in the City of the Dead, but you will find a couple of interesting items for your arsenal. If you haven't already obtained them, you will find the grenade launcher and lasersight here. More importantly, one of the snipers will be carrying a revolver, which should complete your arsenal. | ||
Hidden Treasures |
There is one secret to be found here in the city. So long as you're observant, you should be able to spot it. | ||
Hazards |
The first thing to be aware of are your enemies. Snipers and machine guns will, together, inflict most of the damage you will take here in the City of the Dead. The other thing to watch out for are motorcycle accidents. Be sure you know where you're going before you leap that bike off of a precipice. | ||
