Chamber of Tulun (1st) |
Items: 10 |
Kills: 6 |
|
| As you explore Cairo, you will invariably come across the many mosques here. The Chambers of Tulun are particularly impressive. | |||
Sights to See |
This mosque was built in 879 AD in the Sayyedah Zeinab district. It
has an atmosphere of tranquillity unlike that of any other mosque in
the city. It is the oldest original mosque and the largest in
Egypt. The design of the building is quite simple with the
Mesopotamian influence. The building consists of a large central chamber, with two vestibules at the two entrances. There used to be a spiral staircase that leads to the upper chambers on the outside of the structure, but that staircase is gone, so you'll have to find another way. |
||
Local Fauna |
While exploring Tulun, you will encounter a particularly large scarab beetle. The bite of these giant flying insects can inflict tremendous damage, so if you spot one, take it out quickly.
Temple Guards |
Beside the couple of snipers you will encounter in and around Tulun, you will encounter a unique temple guard. As you wander around the streets surrounding the mosque, you will encounter a mechanical minotaur. Your weapons are useless against it, so you'll need to dodge his attacks.
Souvenirs
|
There are no artifacts of interest.
Hidden Treasures |
There are two secrets. One is quite plain to see, but out of the way. The second is also a little out of the way, but even more so if the minotaur is chasing you around.
Hazards |
The two things to watch out for are the enemies and falling to your death. Surprisingly, even though the number of enemies are few, the amount of damage they can inflict is significant, so do be careful.
