Cleopatra's Palaces (2nd) |
Items: 29 |
Kills: 14 |
| Cleopatra's Palaces can be huge and cavernous with a few tricks. Here are a few vital hints for you. | |||
Decoy
The palaces are full of hallways trapped with spikes that shoot up through holes in the floor when you step onto the floor. This is where the mechanical scarab and winding key come in. If you don't have these two items, you need to retrieve them from Pharos, Temple of Isis. Place it onto the scarab painted on the floor of the hallway, and let the mechanical scarab do its thing. Use it wisely, because the scarab only works three times.
Matching Accessories
Finding it hard to get all the matching accessories to your Egyptian armor outfit? In a chamber to the left, after the first spiked hallway, you will find the matching gauntlet to the one you're carrying. Watch for traps and guardians.
If the Shoe Fits
After finding the Right Gauntlet, find the tall chamber with the four square columns. Follow the hallway heiroglyphics of falcons on the walls. You will eventually find yourself in an irregularly shaped room. Locate the lever that you will have to jump up to grab. That will raise a platform in the center of the room. The platform gives you access to a crevice that runs around the perimeter of the room. A little shimmying and you'll eventually find a room with a sarcophagus containing the Right Greave.
Double Take
On your way back from collecting the Right Greave to the hallway with the heiroglyphics of the falcons, you will find a doorway, formerly closed, that is now open. Inside is a sarcophagus with an item you'll need.
Got Just the Thing...
Now it's time to find the receptacle for the item you just found. You will find the receptacle in a hallway just off the tall chamber with the square pillars.
Carbon Copy
Picking up the small Medi Pack in the large chamber will result in the creation of a statue that is an exact replica of you. The reproduction is so good that if the simulacrum takes damage, you also take damage. You need to make your way to the upper level of the chamber using the ledges that span the chamber and tunnels in the walls of the chamber. As you make your way up, vraeus will attack, but they're not stupid, they're going for the target that's a sitting duck. Worse yet, you'll take damage if you hit the statue with your own ammo. There's no such thing as "friendly fire".
No Pain, No Gain
Look around when you reach the uppermost platform of the hall. You'll find two levers that are mounted on blocks attached to the ceiling of the chamber. You'll have to jump to each lever and pull them to open two doors at the perimeter of the top of the chamber. Behind each door, you will find an artifact.
Mix and Match
Combine the two artifacts that you just retrieved and then place it in the receptacle near the door on the southern wall at the top of the chamber. This will open the door and give you access to the throne room.
Interloper
Desecrate Cleopatra's throne, and you'll awaken her guards. The gurads are hard to kill. They fire lots of bolts that home in on you. There's really no trick. Keep jumping around and open up on them with Uzis. When they're defeated, you can retreive the remaining pieces of the armor.
