Pharos, Temple of Isis (1st)
Items: 19
Kills: 5
Welcome to Pharos, Temple of Isis. This is just a waypoint on your way to the palace. It's all quite straightforward, but here are a few tips.
Surface for Air!
Here you are, deep under water. Your first priority is to find some air! If the whole drowning thing doesn't bother you, there's also a big angry hammer-head shark lurking in the cave.
Shark Attack
The hammerhead is not a big deal. You can kill it by shooting at it from the air pocket or you can simply try to out swim it. Killing it will require some patience and repeatedly baiting it. It's your call.
Prerequisites
If you've been following my guide you should now be carrying the Pharos Knot and the Pharos Pillar. If you do not have one or both of these items, then there's nothing here for you to do. You need to go back to the Lost Library for the Pharos Pillar and the Hall of Demetrius for the Pharos Knot.
Fill in the Blanks
Okay, the previous hint tells you what you need. So you just need to find where they go. It's pretty obvious if you just explore the submerged pyramid. With both artifacts replaced, a new path will be opened to you.
Old and New
Once inside the pyramid, you will encounter an old enemy with some fancy decorations. Don't fret none. You still deal with them the same. Immediately after the skeleton, you will deal with a new enemy. The vraeus. It can be very scary with the poisonous tail and flaming bolts, but if you keep moving and firing you'll be okay. Not only will you be okay, you will probably be able to take it out with the pistols alone.
Crossroads
Lots of stairs that lead off in three directions. The set of stairs straight across from where you entered will have a small pyramid with four receptacles. Three of the four artifacts needed can be found here. For the last, you must find Cleopatra's Palaces.
The South Shall Rise Again
I think the stairs that lead south from the large chamber with the pool is probably the toughest of the various obstacles for you to overcome, so you might as well get it over with now. Once you're inside, you'll be trapped until you complete all the necessary tasks, so the next hints are for the southern hall.
Prying Eyes
Look around the room. You will find two small artifacts above ledges in the room. You can pry those loose, but they will release a swarm of beetles into the hall. With each artifact removed from its receptacle, you will raise a couple of ledges along the walls of the hall. At the top of those ledges lie your means for escape.
Applying Pressure
Figure out what to push on yet? If you've done everything right, you will open a trap door. Down there you will have to do a little fancy jumping, but you will be rewarded with another artifact and the means to escape this buggy trap.
Go West Young Lady
Now that's taken care of, you can deposit your newly found trinket in the pyramid. Notice that when the beetle is broken, it does you no good? Well, there will be a few more broken beetles to find, if you must, but you're interested in the ones that aren't broken. Of the three holes in the room with the pyramid, one of them will be a fool's errand.
Same, Only Different
The premise of the traps within each of the three holes is the same, but the execution is slightly different. First of all, don't hang around in the oily pool. It will ignite shortly after you drop into the pool. The following three hints are for the three holes, going counter-clockwise, starting with the hole to the south.
Wide is the Gate...
...that leads to destruction. You will have to beetles to take in the southern hole. One of them is broken and releases a swarm of beetles. If you guess, you have a fifty-fifty chance of getting it right, but we've given you a hint, now haven't we?
Roach Motel
The western hole is a snap to get into and there's only one artifact to get, but getting out can be a problem. It requires a special jump. We might as well give it away if you can't figure it out for yourself. Try to grab when you take your running jump. It will alter Lara's trajectory and land her inside the hole rather than in the pool.
Can You Count?
The last is the northern hole. Fundamentally, it is the same as the others, but we told you there are only three of the four intact beetles to be found here in the temple. How many have you retrieved?
Matching Set
It's like silverware or stemware. There's always the issue of getting a complete matching set, well the last one that makes it a matching set isn't in the temple.
