Inside Menkaure's Pyramid |

Draw pistols and run forward down the slope. A bat (1) will emerge in the tunnel ahead. Shoot it
down and proceed forward to the swinging blade ahead. Stand so that
Lara is against the wall of the tunnel. Wait for the blade to begin to swing away and take a standing jump past the blade. Proceed forward and stand with Lara against the wall of the tunnel when she reaches the second blade. Draw pistols and wait for the second blade to swing away from Lara and take a standing jump past it. Immediately take aim on two bats (2, 3) that will be fluttering around in the chamber ahead. Kill them and proceed forward into the room. Run along one side of the room and take a hairpin turn to run down the stairs. Part way down the stairs, Lara will look up and notice a golden star mounted in a shaft in the ceiling. Lara needs to target the star with the lasersight, so choose either the revolver or the crossbow equipped with regular arrows. Target the golden star and blow it apart with one shot. This will open a trapdoor in the laver ahead. Now step forward down the steps. There are two mummies (4, 5) shuffling around at the base of the stairs. Lara can wait until the two mummies are standing next to each other and take them both out with a single regular grenade or an explosive crossbow bolt. Proceed into the room and draw pistols to kill a bat (6) that will flutter around the back of the room. Run forward around the marble laver, and pick up a box of revolver ammo (1) from behind the laver. Turn around and walk forward to the laver, standing on the raised platform below the laver and take a standing jump into the right side of the laver. Turn left and run forward to drop into the trapdoor that opened when Lara shot apart the golden star. Run forward down the tunnel until Lara comes to a pit. Take a running jump and grab the rope. Spikes will shoot out of the holes in the bottom of the pit as Lara sails over to the rope. Swing across the pit and leap off the rope to reach the far side of the pit. Step forward and two more mummies (7, 8) will appear. If Lara waits until they get very close to her, she can take them both out with a single regular grenade or explosive arrows. Draw pistols and continue forward to find a bat (9) on the left. Open fire and kill it. Angle Lara to the right and run forward to find another pit with two ropes dangling over the pit. The easiest way to complete the next part is to line Lara up with the two ropes ahead so that she is collinear with the two ropes. Take a running jump and grab onto the rope. Slide down to the bottom of the rope, swing across and leap off the rope and grab onto the second rope. Spikes will shoot up out of holes in the base of the pit as Lara cross the pit. Slide down to the bottom of the second rope and swing over and drop to the far side of this pit. Run forward up the slope and pull the lever to open a trapdoor elsewhere. Reverse roll and run back down to the edge of the pit. Take a running jump and grab the rope. Slide down to the bottom of the rope, swing forward, and leap off the rope to grab the rope ahead. Slide down to the bottom of the next rope, swing forward and drop to the ground beyond the pit. Run forward, turn right and continue forward. Turn right to find another pit with two ropes dangling over it. Once again, line Lara up so that she is collinear with the two ropes. Take a running jump and grab the first rope. Spikes will shoot up out of holes in the bottom of the pit as Lara cross the pit. Slide down to the bottom of the rope and swing forward. Leap off the rope and grab the next rope. Slide down to the bottom of the next rope and swing forward. Leap off the second rope to land on the far side of the pit. Run forward up the tunnel ahead. Jump up to grab the edge of the opening above, which Lara opened earlier, and pull up. Immediately start flipping side to side and draw a weapon. Open fire on Menkaure's Guardian (10), which is a tall figure with the head of a falcon. |

Western Shaft Key
|
Continue firing at the guardian as it launches little fiery bolts at
Lara and keep flipping side to side until it falls. Run forward to
the small dot on the far end of the hallway. Use the crowbar to pry
the Western Shaft Key (2) from the
western wall. A stone wall elsewhere will open to reveal a passage
behind it. Reverse roll, run forward, and drop through the trapdoor ahead. Run down the tunnel until Lara is at the edge of the spiked pit. Take a running jump and grab onto the rope ahead. Slide to the bottom of the rope and swing forward. Leap off this rope and grab onto the rope ahead. Slide to the bottom of the other rope, swing forward and leap off the rope to land on the ground beyond the pit. Angle Lara to the left and run forward until she reaches the spiked pit with a single rope dangling over it. Take a running jump and grab onto the rope. Slide to the bottom of the rope, swing across the pit and leap off the rope to land on the ledge beyond the pit. Run up the tunnel ahead and pull up through the trapdoor back up into the laver above. Take a standing jump forward out of the laver. Turn left, run forward, and angle Lara further to the left to run up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, take a hairpin turn to the right and run back along the ledge above the stairs. Turn left and enter the tunnel that Lara opened earlier. Step forward and slide to the bottom of the slope. Crouch down, crawl forward, and turn right. Continue crawling forward until two blades shoot out of the walls of the hallway and slide past each other. Continue crawling forward until Lara is past the blade trap. Stand up, step forward and turn left. Run forward, up the slope, to the top of the hallway. There is a trapdoor with hard-to-see handle above. The easiest way to find it is to run straight up to the end of the hallway until Lara is pressed against the wall ahead. Reverse roll, and Lara will turn around in place. Reverse roll again and Lara should be properly positioned below the handle of the trapdoor above. Jump up and grab the handle to pull open the trapdoor. Turn right and climb up out of the trapdoor. Draw pistols and shoot at two giant scorpions (11, 12) that will attack from ahead. When they draw near, hop backwards back into the trapdoor. Fire on the scorpion if it waits around at the mouth of the tunnel, otherwise, climb up out of the trapdoor, draw pistols and wait until the scorpions attack again. Repeat until both scorpions are dead. Pull up out of the trapdoor if Lara isn't at the surface. Run forward and locate the two small pyramids to the left. Turn left and run down the gap between the two pyramids. About halfway down the alley, turn left and find a stone button on the pyramid to the north. This causes the top of the southern pyramid to swivel open and release another giant scorpion (13) into the clearing. Immediately, draw pistols, reverse roll, run forward, and turn right. Run back down the alley between the two pyramids to find the scorpion on the right. Angle Lara at the scorpion, and open fire while charging toward the scorpion. When it gets too close, take a running jump over the scorpion and drop into the trapdoor ahead. Use the aforementioned method to kill this scorpion and when it's safe climb back out of the trapdoor. Run forward across the sandy clearing to the base of the southern pyramid which overlooks a deep pit. Step up onto the ledge near the base of the pyramid which is less steep than the area around it. Angle Lara to the right and run forward to the right side of this ledge and vault up to the flat ledge above. Turn right and walk forward along this ledge until Lara reaches the southern side of the ledge. Take a single step backwards away from the edge of the ledge and then take a single hop backwards. Take a running jump across to a small less inclined ledge ahead. Turn left and vault up onto the ledge above. Angle Lara to the left, run forward and vault up the right side of this ledge to the ledge above. Turn left, walk forward until Lara steps up to a higher ledge. Turn right, step forward, and vault up to the highest ledge on this pyramid. Walk forward until Lara is at the edge of the opening at the top of the pyramid. Turn around and hop backwards, grabbing onto the edge of the opening. Climb down the ladder on the inside of the shaft and release when Lara nears the bottom. Turn left, run forward, and turn left again when Lara is beneath a hallway with stars on the ceiling. Run up the ramp and turn right. Take a running jump over a pit ahead. Spikes will shoot up out of the pit as Lara sails over. Run forward and turn left. Jump up and grab the bars on the ceiling. Swing forward over the deep pit and release when Lara is beyond the pit. Turn right and walk forward to the edge of the next pit, which has a blade swinging across the middle of it. Stand so that Lara is pressed against the wall on the right. Take a hop backwards and wait until the blade swings to the right and just reaches the alcove on the right. Immediately take a running jump across the pit as the blade swings away, and grab the far edge of the pit. Spikes would shoot up out of the floor of the pit as Lara crosses the pit. Pull up and run forward. Turn right and walk forward to the edge of the next pit. Again, stand so that Lara is pressed against the right hand wall and take a hop back. Wait until the blade swings to the right and just reaches the alcove. Take a running jump across the pit and grab the far edge of the pit, sailing past the blade as it swings away. Spikes will, once again, shoot out of the bottom of the pit as Lara crosses the pit. Pull up, run forward until Lara comes to another pit. Once again, stand so that Lara is pressed against the right hand wall. Take a hop back and wait for the blade to swing to the right. When it just reaches the right hand wall, take a running jump across the pit and grab the opposite edge of the pit. Again, spikes will shoot out from the bottom of the pit as Lara crosses the pit. Pull up, run forward and turn left. Run forward and turn left again. Step forward and pull the chain to raise a gate elsewhere. Reverse roll, run forward, and turn right. Continue forward and turn right again. Walk forward until Lara is at the edge of the spiked pit. Stand with Lara pressed against the right hand wall. Repeat a timed running jump and grab the far edge of the pit. Pull up out of the pit and step forward. Turn right when Lara comes to the hallway that leads to the south. Jump up and grab the bars overhead to swing forward across the deep pit. Release when Lara is beyond the pit. Turn left and run forward. Turn right and walk forward to the gate. |

SECRET #1
|
Stand to the right side of the newly opened gate. Slide down the
slope and take a jump and angle Lara to the right when she nears the
end of the slope. Lara will either land on a small triangular ledge
or in the only safe spot in the spiked pit below. If Lara is not already in the pit, take a hop back and safety drop into the pit. Take a step backwards and pick up a pair of Uzis (3), which is SECRET #1. It will count as thirty rounds of Uzi ammo if Lara is already carrying the Uzis. Step forward and pull up out of the spiked pit and step forward. |

Step through the newly opened gate and slide to the bottom. Take a
jump off the slope as Lara nears the end of the slope to clear a
spiked pit1. Allow Lara to slide forward down a slope toward an open trapdoor at the bottom. Take a jump over the trapdoor to land on the ledge beyond. Allow Lara to slide backwards and grab onto the edge of the opening. Safety drop down into the tunnel below and run forward up the tunnel and return to the sphinx complex. |
